The main leader of the Haitian revolution was former slave, Toussaint Louverture. Louverture lead the only Atlantic victorious slave revolution ever. Louverture was born in 1743 into a family of African born slaves, being the oldest of eight siblings, currently serving in Haiti. His father had a medical education and taught Louverture the basics of traditional medicine. The short and skinny man herded livestock until he reached his mid-thirties and then attempted to become a property owner. When Louverture was directly introduced to the revolution, he didn't want to get involved with it. Eventually he gave in and joined. After one of his partners of leading the revolution got executed, he became the leader. Leading the main part of the revolution by attacking the French army, he and many other slaves participating were captured and executed. Toussaint got the worst of executions though, being burnt alive by fire.
